Kisan Sabha Conference in Bihar

The Bihar Pradesh Kisan Sabha concluded its state conference on 8-9 October in Biharsharif in Nalanda district. The Conference was attended by nearly 400 delegates from all parts of the state discussed various burning issues of the peasant movement in Bihar and called for intensifying the movement against pro-imperialist, anti-peasant and anti-poor agrarian policy of the government. The conference also demanded from the Bihar Govt. to initiate the registration process for the share-croppers (Bataidaars), and to ensure the rights of share-croppers over the land. It also demanded to make public the Amir Das Commission report as well as to redistribute the bhoodan-land which is still occupied by big landlords. The Conference elected a 61-member State Committee with Rajaram Singh again as its President, besides a five-member Secretariat and five Vice Presidents. 

AP State Conference

The Fifth Party State Conference of Andhra unit took place at Guntur from October 8-10. It was preceded by an impressive and colourful rally of around 2500 people along with the cultural troupe of Jan Sanskriti Mandli. The debate on the Draft Report addressed the land question and the challenge of raising land struggles to a political level seriously. The draft report was unanimously adopted by the conference. The conference elected a 21-member State Committee which re-elected Com. N. Murthy as the State Secretary. 

Assam State Conference of CPI(ML)

The 7th Assam State Conference of CPI(ML) was held at Tinsukia on 23-25 September. An impressive protest procession of around 2 thousand people from different tea gardens and other areas of Tinsuka and Dibrugarh districts was held on 23 September at the beginning of the Conference demanding immediate withdrawal of Indo-US Nuclear Deal. All State Committee members and Central Committee members present as guests led the procession. After the procession a mass meeting was held at Dohotia Bihutoli which was presided over by Comrade Gangaram Kol (Asom Sangrami Chah Sramik Sangha (ASCSS) State President) and addressed by CCM and Ex-MP Jayanta Rongpi, State Secretary, CCM Rubul Sarma, Vibek Das (ASCSS General Secretary), Kanaklata Dutta (State Secretary, AIPWA) and Arup Mahanta (State Secretay Gramin Sramik Santha). Speakers also called upon the people to unitedly fight against the rampant corruption, total failure and anarchy of Tarun Gogoi Government and to defeat the Congress in the forthcoming Panchayat polls. Earlier in the morning Party's flag was hoisted by Com. Harendra Nath Barthakur, member of Central Control Commission, and homage to the martyrs was paid. The Town (Tinsukia) was named after Martyr Comrade Anil Kr. Baruah and the Conference Hall (Durgabari Hall) as Khitipati Das hall.150 delegates and guests participated in the conference which adopted a Political-Organizational report and elected a 15-member State Committee unanimously. Rubul Sarma was re-elected as State Secretary.

PB member D.P. Buxi was the Central Observer and he called for consolidation of work amongst the rural poor and working class as the basis for expansion in the state. 
